Best practices when creating an AMP story

Accelerated Mobile Pages, or AMP, is a Google-backed initiative that was created as a freely available standard to help publishers optimize their websites for mobile viewing. Pages that have been coded with AMP display in designated areas inside the search results or have a unique AMP label.

AMP sites are just regular HTML5 websites with a few rules and limitations to make the page load quickly and light-weight. A mobile site and an AMP are not the same thing. A specific website may have three distinct different versions: an AMP version, a mobile site, and the desktop version, which is the recommended version.

To grab users' interest while crafting an AMP tale, take into account these recommended strategies.

Complete and Captivating Stories

Given that this feature's name is "stories," it is obvious that its goal is to tell a narrative in order to communicate a message. Your AMP tales must stand alone as compelling and comprehensive narratives. The reader should be able to follow along with the tale without needing to click on additional links in order to learn more.

The stories may also include audio and visual aids, but they should be supported with pertinent language that accurately and succinctly explains the lesson. It is preferable to have written captions to accompany audio, even whether the tale has any, in case the user is listening to the story on mute. A story told in AMP that consists just of visuals or text is not engaging enough for the viewer. The ideal way to communicate information is through an ideal blend of many media.

Quality of Assets

When writing an AMP tale, formatting and asset quality are critical components that should not be compromised. The story's photos and videos need to be of a good caliber and load quickly. Viewers get disinterested in low-resolution content. Equally crucial is the way these items are formatted. Images in landscape orientation typically don't display properly on mobile devices. When the photos are appropriately cropped, in portrait mode, and full-bleed, the tale becomes more immersive.

Any materials utilized must also fit the plot and not appear out of place. The story's appearance can also be improved by using subdued animation styles in the text or graphics, but it's also important to avoid going overboard with the animation.

Features of the Poster and Video

The tale may be made even more interesting by including brief movies to support it rather than simply still photos. A video in 720p format with a 16:9 or 3:4 aspect ratio would be ideal. Beyond this, using high-resolution videos unnecessarily slows down the story's loading time without significantly enhancing the video quality.

Videos with audio attachments must contain captions so that viewers may understand them even while watching them on mute. Choosing a poster characteristic for a video story is another crucial step. A picture that shows up on the user interface while the video loads is called a poster. Although you may select any other image that is pertinent and evocative of the next film, this is often the first frame of the video. There should be a seamless transition from the poster to the video.

Use And Location Of Text

One of the most crucial components of an AMP tale is the text that is used. While it's true that you want to use as little text as possible to allow the user to read it at a comfortable speed, any text you do use needs to be structured correctly. The text should, above all, be written such that the meaning may be expressed in the fewest possible terms. Next, make sure the text style you choose is readable. The text should stand out against the background due to the font size and color. Using a contrasting hue to highlight the text can also help make it easier to read.

Carefully Using Links

You may also connect more pertinent information to your story and embed it. Alternatively, you might include links to pages with further information about the subject. However, it's important to embed these assets and add links so that they blend in with the whole narrative and don't stand out. The connected attachments ought to mesh nicely with the overall AMP story's concept. Links should also be inserted such that the slide containing them appears to be a continuation of the narrative, encircled by relevant material.
